New Pool Construction Project in Waxhaw
The steel erection phase and rough plumbing for this project are now complete. A 4″ gravel base was spread on the bottom of the pool to keep the area clean and to provide a good foundation for the concrete shell. 3/8″ rebar was used on the walls, while 1/2″ rebar was used on the floor, all tied 12″ on center.
The concrete shell was shot using 4,000 psi shotcrete, which is a mixture of portland cement, aggregate (rock) and water all mixed together and pumped from a concrete truck’s barrel mixer to a concrete pump. The shotcrete is pumped through a 2 1/2″ hose that has a compressed air nozzle where the shotcrete is then pneumatically applied.
Here is the completed shell, with 12″ thick walls and 8″ thick floor.
The next phase of this project is plumbing.
Now is a great time to build a pool!
